The Future of Reselling On Amazon Looks Bright

According to Yoda Yee, former Amazon insider and founder/CEO of Threecolts, the data confirms this optimistic forecast.

Yee recently sat down with Jim Cockrum of Silent Sales Machine Radio and discussed why the future for reselling on Amazon looks bright.

Key takeaways from the episode:

  • Reselling is the most stable playground to be in on Amazon, and it’s not changing any time soon. It will always have a vital role in the selection and expansion of goods in the Amazon catalog.
  • Amazon knows the value of resellers on its platform as it is a reseller itself. The tech and retail titan recognizes that it is the resellers who keep its shelves stocked with product.
  • Yee, who is now in talks with Amazon’s leadership and enforcement teams, says Amazon has been made aware that some of its current policies in place to combat counterfeit products have affected honest sellers negatively, and it is currently fixing some issues affecting resellers. Also, Amazon is exerting more effort in getting sellers involved in policy building.
  • Tariffs will present a huge opportunity for resellers. According to Yee, Amazon resellers have done very well when there is inventory and pricing imbalance. With the huge collapse of Chinese orders and domestic retailers starting to raise their prices, the conditions are becoming similar to the Pandemic era (2020 – 2022) when resellers made millions in profit.

The Skinny on Amazon’s Updated FBA Capacity Limits for May and June 2025

Amazon recently informed its sellers about its updates regarding FBA capacity limits, and this particular update has serious strategic implications for sellers prepping for mid-year promotions and Prime Day in July.

Amazon sellers, after receiving the email:

Here’s everything you need to know about the update:

  • FBA Storage just got tighter: Amazon’s slashing storage limits from 6 to 5 months of sales – some sellers are getting hit with 75% cuts starting May 2025.
  • Performance now matters more than ever: your IPI, sales speed, and how efficiently you ship and manage your catalog all affect how much you can send in. Slow movers could block your best-sellers from being restocked.
  • ASIN limits might be back: looks like Amazon’s bringing back ASIN-level restock limits on top of account-wide caps. Flashbacks to 2021, anyone?
  • Sellers were blindsided: some limits that looked locked-in got cut last-minute. Cue chaos and expensive inventory reshuffles.
  • Prime Day panic: with July creeping up, now’s the time to rethink your inventory plan – especially for your top sellers.

If you’re an Amazon online arbitrage seller, you’ll be seriously affected by this update. The arbitrage game relies on speed, flexibility, and scaling up hot sellers fast. This storage capacity update can possibly kick your ladder while you’re halfway up.

Here are 5 things you can do right now:

1. Get in Touch with Seller Central

Need more space? You’ve got two ways to push back:

  • Start with Capacity Manager
Head to Seller Central → Inventory → FBA Dashboard → Capacity Manager
Here, you can request extra storage for a specific month and set a reservation fee. If you use the space effectively, Amazon may refund up to 100% of the fee as performance credits. It’s quick and usually the fastest route.
  • Open a Case as Backup (or Plan B)
If Capacity Manager isn’t available—or you’ve been hit with a drastic cut—submit a case to Amazon Seller Support and request a storage increase directly. Include your IPI score, sales velocity, and why you need the extra space (e.g. restock issues, upcoming promos, etc.). Sellers report responses within 48–72 hours.

Use both if needed: request in Capacity Manager and open a case to explain your situation and urgency. Don’t wait for sales to stall — be proactive.

2. Get Your IPI Score in Shape

Your Inventory Performance Index (IPI) is a major factor in your FBA storage limits. Keep excess inventory low, fix stranded listings, and move products fast. Amazon likes it when you look efficient, even if you’re running a product circus behind the scenes.

3. Use a 3PL or Prep Center

Consider diverting part of your inventory to a third-party logistics (3PL) provider or FBA prep center. It gives you flexibility, avoids FBA overage fees, and lets you drip-feed inventory to Amazon as your space allows.

 4. Flip Fast and Turn Inventory Quickly

When your storage space is limited, every unit counts — so you need inventory that sells fast. This is exactly what online arbitrage is built for: quick flips, strong margins, and high velocity.

If you’re tired of digging for winners, FBALEADLIST.COM delivers the goods. We curate fast-moving, highly profitable products with:

  • 💰 Average profit of $6 to $15 per unit
  • 🔁 ROI potential of 40% to 200%
  • 🚀 BSR in the top 1.5% of their category
  • 📦 Estimated 15–100+ sales per month

No more guessing. Just source, send, and sell — fast. When Amazon squeezes your storage, your smartest move is filling it with leads that move.

 5. Stay Plugged In

Amazon isn’t known for transparency. Follow FBA update threads, subscribe to informative, up-to-date, and trustworthy newsletters like Seller Snacks 😉, keep tabs on your IPI dashboard, and check your restock limits weekly. Ignorance isn’t bliss — it’s just how you lose sales.

Final Thoughts for OA Sellers

Amazon’s new FBA capacity limits feel like a sucker punch to the hustle. But you’re an OA seller — built to adapt, optimize, and find margins where others see mess.

So yes, storage is tighter. But your game plan is tighter too. Lean into smart sourcing, use external fulfillment when needed, and stay on top of your metrics.

Your inventory is a weapon — just gotta figure out where to stash it until the next restock window opens.

The Impact of Amazon Prime Day: A Look Back at 2024

Amazon Prime Day - sellerspaceship.com

Prime Day is the Amazon sellers’ Super Bowl. However, is it all touchdowns and trophies, or are some of us getting sacked?

Seller Snap fired up the DeLorean and headed back to July 2024 to see how the Prime Day event unfolded last year.

July Prime Day 2024: Big Wins, Slim Margins

Amazon’s July Prime Day brought the fireworks. Sales volume was off the charts, and sellers saw profits spike about 80% above a normal day.

There’s a catch though – profit margins took a slight hit. Why? More competition, steeper discounts, and higher ad spend. For most sellers though, the volume made up for it.

Verdict: Worth it – but don’t forget to tighten your margins and monitor your ad budget.

Also worth noting that this year, a number of sellers are sitting out Prime Day due to Trump’s tariffs. However, there are those who will still participate, and these sellers will be experimenting with price increases, reduced advertising expenditures, or gradually importing merchandise to mitigate the financial impact of tariffs.

With this July’s Prime Day being an extended four-day sales marathon, sellers are given a longer window to win-or lose depending on how ready they are. It’s really going to test your business systems, so make sure you’re prepared for Prime Day.

Amazon Posts 8% Growth in North American Sales in Q1

In a press release to its investors,  Amazon reported strong financial results for the first quarter of 2025.

Some performance highlights:

  • Amazon’s global sales increased by 9% year-over-year in Q1 2025 (10% when excluding foreign exchange fluctuations). \
  • North America sales rose by 8% compared to the same quarter in the previous year.
  • International sales grew by 5% (or 8% when adjusted for currency exchange rates).
  • Worldwide paid units grew by 8% in Q1.

The most important highlight though is that third-party sellers accounted for 61% of worldwide paid units, highlighting the significant role third-party sellers play in Amazon’s ecosystem.

Cheers!

Make Your Voice HeardYoda Yee, founder and CEO of all-in-one enterprise platform Threecolts, is doing some great work on behalf of Amazon sellers. He is currently in talks with Amazon’s enforcement team, and is looking for sellers who:

  • Have received counterfeit complaints without a test buy
  • Are long-term sellers of specific brands who have never received a counterfeit claim but have been gated.

Yee’s goal is to make sure that Amazon sellers have a voice in shaping Amazon’s policies regarding brand gatings and eliminating counterfeit products in its marketplaces. If you’re a seller who has been affected by Amazon’s sweeping policies on gating and counterfeit complaints, make your voice heard here
