Every other week, we share quick bites of Amazon seller news, tips, and other goodies. Here is a quick roundup of seller snacks to munch on:

Amazon Launching Direct From China Marketplace

Maybe delivery speed isn’t everything…

Borrowing the wisdom employed by Temu, Shein, and Ali Express that a good number of customers are willing to pay less and wait longer for their items, Amazon is launching a direct-from-China marketplace. The marketplace, which will carry low-priced, slow-shipping items, will be on a separate section in Amazon’s website and mobile app.

Will Amazon’s gambit pay off?

Amazon Quietly Testing Virtual Storefronts

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance customers’ digital shopping experience, Amazon has been conducting experiments on virtual storefronts in its marketplace. Experimentation has included curated virtual home tours and virtual storefronts for big brands like Lego and Star Wars.

Check out a virtual storefront here.

Amazon US Marketplace Sales 3x More Than Other Top 4 Marketplaces Combined

According to Marketplace Pulse, Amazon is the largest marketplace in the US, selling three times more than the other four marketplaces in the Top Five combined. Total 2024 sales projections are as follows:

Amazon Turns 30

On July 5, 1994, Jeff Bezos filed the papers to incorporate Amazon Inc. Since, it’s been a story of explosive expansion, innovation, and reinvention for “The Everything Company.”

Amazon’s massive success over the last 30 years has imparted three key lessons for entrepreneurs:

  1. Identify big demographic and technological trends before the competition.
  2. Build businesses around those trends and move aggressively towards them.
  3. Be willing to pivot and chase new demographic and technological trends when conditions change, as they always will.

Amazon Bots Strike Again

Sellers are again in an uproar as Amazon bots falsely flagged listings. Sellers reported that bots were misidentifying products in categories such as sporting goods, shoes, toys, clothing, candy, books, and the like and included them in takedown notices.

Amazon has already acknowledged the issue, and have instructed sellers who have received takedown notices to NOT acknowledge the violation as the listing will be taken down, and instead make an appeal. Amazon also posted instructions on how to appeal your live plant and seed violation.

Tomfoolery!
