AZ Small Biz Empowerment Report

To celebrate its small business partners, Amazon recently released its 2023 Small Business Empowerment report, and here are some key takeaways:

  • Independent sellers from the US sold more than 4.5 billion items and averaged more than $250,000 in annual sales in 2023.
  • More than 10,000 independent sellers surpassed $1 million in annual sales for the first time.
  • Over 330 million items were exported by US sellers to customers all over the world.
  • Brand owners grew sales by more than 22% year-over-year.
  • Independent sellers from rural areas grew sales by more than 60% year-over-year.

Important Amazon Seller Updates

Updated Returns Processing Fee and Returns Insights Dashboard – the updated returns processing fee for products with high-return rates (except apparel and shoes) will go into effect on June 1, and will occur after the close of each three-month period.

The Returns Insights Dashboard has also been updated to help you understand returns and returns rate better. It will now also include the following insights:

  • Number of returned units and return rate percentages used to calculate the fee
  • Minimum return rate thresholds above which fees are charged
  • Number of returned units above the threshold for which the fees are charged

New Size Chart Self-Serve Tool – Amazon-enrolled brands can now easily add size charts to their listings via the new Size Chart Self-Serve tool. The new tool, which comes with a lot of convenient features, can be accessed by selecting Add Size Charts from the Catalog drop-down menu in Seller Central.
