Bezos to Return to the Amazon Command Center in 2023?

Michael Batnick made a bold prediction that Jeff Bezos may return as Amazon CEO in 2023.

Batnick, a managing partner at Ritholdz Wealth Management, anchors his prediction on Amazon’s depressed stock price, which plunged by 50%, the largest dive the company has experienced since the year 2000. He thinks the recent struggles are enough to prompt the return of Bezos to his command center.

Similar moves have been made by Disney’s Bob Iger and Starbuck’s Howard Schultz in the past.

This is one of the 10 financial market predictions Batnick made for 2023.

Amazon Liable for Counterfeits and Kock-off ads on its Platform?

Brands are pushing back against Amazon for allowing sponsored ads that target specific brands. Essentially, companies that are ripping off brands can run ads based on the brand keywords and trick people into thinking it’s the real brand.

Changes may be on the way thanks to a December 22 preliminary ruling in a lawsuit brought against Amazon by Christian Louboutin.

The suit, which was originally raised in 2019, alleges that Amazon should be liable for “the surfeit of sponsored posts for knockoff Louboutin shoes, complete with the brand’s trademarked red soles.”

This could lead to a change in the way Amazon does keyword advertising.
